Privacy Policy

FreeportBuzz (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the FreeportBuzz website at freeportbuzz.com and the FreeportBuzz mobile app (together, the “Service”). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. If you sign in with Google, we also receive the name, email address, and profile photo associated with your Google account.

Content you submit

If you submit an event or business listing through the Service, we collect the details you provide (title, description, location, contact information, images, etc.) and store them in our database for moderation and, if approved, display to other users.

Contact form messages

If you send us a message through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content.

Saved items (favorites)

When you save an event or business listing, we store a record of that preference linked to your account so it appears across your devices.

Usage information

We do not run independent analytics. Firebase, our database provider, may collect standard technical information (IP address, device type, browser) as part of operating its infrastructure. See the Firebase Privacy Policy for details.

2. Device permissions

The FreeportBuzz mobile app may request the following permission:

Calendar. We request calendar access only when you explicitly choose to add an event to your device calendar. We do not read existing calendar entries.

3. How we use your information

To create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
To display your saved events and businesses across sessions and devices.
To process and moderate event and business submissions.
To respond to messages you send through the contact form.
To send account-related emails (email verification, password reset).
To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

4. Third-party services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate:

Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, database (Firestore), and file storage. Your account data and saved items are stored on Firebase servers. See the Firebase Privacy Policy.
Google Sign-In (Google LLC)— optional OAuth sign-in. If you use “Continue with Google,” Google shares your name, email, and profile photo with us under Google’s own privacy terms.
Stripe, Inc. — payment processing for business sponsor subscriptions (web portal only). Stripe handles all payment card data directly; we never see or store your card number. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Google Maps — embedded maps on business detail pages. Google may collect information per its own privacy policy when maps are loaded.

5. Data retention and deletion

We retain your account information and saved items for as long as your account exists. To request deletion of your account and associated data, email us at hello@freeportbuzz.com. We will process the request within 30 days.

6. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices including HTTPS encryption and Firebase security rules to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
